20 Jun – The follow-up to 2014's "Godzilla" has begun principal photography today in Atlanta, Georgia. Expect to see more than just the monstrous lizard-like creature in the upcoming sequel as this time around it will be facing off against three other legendary monsters. Mothra, Rodan, and Godzilla's ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah, will all be part of the new movie, according to a press statement from Warner Bros. In the movie, the members of crypto-zoological agency Monarch find themselves fighting the aforementioned god-sized monsters. However, humanity's very existence hang in the balance when the monsters start going up against each other as each of the ancient super-species vie for supremacy. Directed by Michael Dougherty ("Krampus"), both Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins return to reprise their "Godzilla" roles in the sequel.
They are joined by Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga ("The Conjuring" films), Golden Globe nominee Zhang Ziyi ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"), Kyle Chandler ("Manchester by the Sea"), Millie Bobby Brown ("Stranger Things"), Bradley Whitford ("Get Out"), Thomas Middleditch (HBO's "Silicon Valley"), Charles Dance (HBO's "Game of Thrones"), O'Shea Jackson Jr. ("Straight Outta Compton"), and Aisha Hinds ("Star Trek Into Darkness"). The sequel will be the third instalment of Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' cinematic MonsterVerse, following their first "Godzilla" movie in 2014 and 2017's "Kong: Skull Island". While back in December, it was announced that the second "Godzilla" movie would be called "Godzilla: King of the Monsters", there was no mention of the title in the latest statement from the studio, so it remains to be seen whether the movie is still going by the same title or is undergoing a name change. "Godzilla 2" is slated for release in North America in March 2019.
