12 Dec – Two local filmmakers have done Malaysia proud again on the international stage. Liew Seng Tat and Pete Teo have recently won at the 2nd International Film Festival & Awards Macao (IFFAM), currently taking place from 8 to 14 December 2017. The duo received the Huace Pictures Award at the IFFAM Project Market (previously known as Crouching Tigers Project Lab), which aims to support the production of international film projects, according to Macau Business. Entitled "The Girl with No Head", Liew and Teo's project is about a girl who has lost her memory after resurrecting herself by reattaching her head following her murder and decapitation. Aside from the duo's project, "Mihara" (USA / Japan) by Jacqueline Castel and "The Last Savage" (US / France / Indonesia) by Liam O'Donnell also received the Ivanhoe Pictures Award and the Hairun Pictures Award, respectively. All three awards come with a USD10,000 prize. The three projects were selected from 14 international candidates off the IFFAM Project Market 2017 Selection List by a jury comprised of Todd Brown, Head of International Acquisition of XYZ Films; Victoria Hon, Vice President of Beijing Hairun Pictures Co.
