7 Jan – It's no secret that Professor X would be featured in the upcoming "X-Men" spinoff, "The New Mutants", what's been a question on everyone's mind is who would be portraying the powerful mutant. Rising actress Anya Taylor-Joy may have answered the question, according to Coming Soon. When asked about the possibility of reuniting with "Split" co-star James McAvoy in the spinoff movie, the 20-year-old replied, "I mean, I think James is already a part of it, isn't he?" McAvoy is well known for portraying Professor X in previous "X-Men" movies, so the chances are high that he would return for the role, and this seems like a confirmation that he would indeed be back in the wheelchair. Taylor-Joy herself is rumoured to be up for a role in "New Mutants", as she was previously reported to be in talks to play Magik. Other actors reportedly being eyed to star include Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones") as Wolfsbane and Nat Wolff ("Paper Towns", "Death Note") as Cannonball. No word yet on who might be playing Mirage and Sunspot, the characters that round up the team director Josh Boone previously teased fans with. "The New Mutants" currently has no release date set, but McAvoy and Taylor-Joy can be seen soon in the psycho-thriller, "Split", opening in cinemas this 19 January.
