10 Aug – The local animation industry is clearly on the rise with many Malaysians marking their names in what used to be dominated by foreign countries. Some local animation studios have even successfully penetrated the Asian market and placed themselves in more than 80 countries through their own IP (Intellectual Property). With that, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, also known as MDEC, launches the Kre8tif! Conference & Content Festival 2017, where major players within the regional animation industry are gathered under one roof for four days at the Cyberview Spa & Resort, Cyberjaya. "The creative and animation industry has a huge potential and has shown itself to be one of the main contributors of the country's income for the past few years. MDEC has more plans in mind to stir up the digital economy to keep this industry growing.
"Hence, the Kre8tif! event is held as one of MDEC's efforts to showcase a platform for the industry's newcomers to better learn and understand the tools to survive in the animation industry. "In addition to that, this event also provides chances for the local animation studios to communicate with representatives from other countries, indirectly creating opportunities for future collaborations." MDEC CEO Dato' Yasmin Mahmood said during the launch of the event yesterday. MDEC (CCT) Vice President Hasnul Hadi Samsudin also added that the Kre8tif! event will also discuss the many things related to the industry, including its technologies, trends, and ways to drive the animation industry. The event will be divided into two portions where the conference and networking between the players of the animation industry will be taking place on the 9 and 10 August while various interesting family activities will be held at TSI Sports Arena, Cyberjaya on the 11 and 12 August.
