17 Oct – Following the success of "Theri" and the anticipation for the upcoming "Mersal", it seems that director Atlee Kumar might has struck gold with his lead actor, Vijay, and he is not looking to stop soon. "I wouldn't rule out the reports. Yes, we may team up for the third time. It all depends on Vijay sir," Atlee revealed to FirstPost regarding news of him teaming up with Vijay again. Atlee and Vijay first met through the set of "Nanban", the remake of Aamir Khan's hit film "3 Idiots", where the former made a special appearance as an assistant director during one of the songs in the movie. Both then went on to work together in Atlee's second feature "Theri", released in 2016, achieving great success with their chemistry and having the film named South India's second highest-grossing film of 2016. "After the success of "Theri", I narrated the script of "Mersal" to Vijay sir last November and he was excited about the idea. And, we went on floors immediately from February 2017," the 31-year-old director spilled about how Vijay was cast in "Mersal". Atlee, who previously worked alongside acclaimed filmmaker S. Shankar, also has nothing but praises for the Tamil superstar, admitting that he was touched by Vijay's dedication in shooting a wrestling scene shirtless in hot weather for the upcoming movie. Fans can see Vijay take on three roles – a panchayat head, a doctor and a magician – in the upcoming "Mersal" when it opens worldwide this 18 October.
