The locations that will be under mm2 Star Screen from next month onwards are:
mmCineplexes' Director of Marketing and Business Development, Mr. Jason Teo revealed to Cinema Online that these locations will also undergo brand change. "For example, LFS Kampar will be known as mmCineplexes Kampar."
"We shall be progressively changing the signage, stationary, popcorn boxes, cups and uniforms to the mmCineplexes brand," he added.
When asked whether there are any plans for cinema refurbishments, Mr. Teo replied, "As we are taking over a large number of locations across East and West Malaysia, we need time to assess and plan the refurbishments.
"These will also be carried out progressively in addition to new locations which we will be opening."
mm2 Star Screen is a new subsidiary company in Malaysia incorporated under mm2 Screen Management Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of mm2 Asia Ltd.
News of the acquisition was revealed in early November last year, when mm2 Asia Ltd announced its plan to acquire 13 out of the 26 LFS locations in Malaysia.
Previously, mm2 Asia acquired two Cathay Cineplexes locations in Malaysia, which have since been renamed to mmCineplexes Damansara PJ and mmCineplexes City Square JB, as well as three Mega Cineplex locations (Mega Cineplex Prai, Mega Cineplex Langkawi, Mega Cineplex Bertam).
With the completion of the LFS Cinemas acquisition, mm2 Asia now has 18 locations in Malaysia with a combined total of 133 screens.
