27 Nov – Malaysia will play host to the first ever ASEAN-China Film Festival (ACFF), set to take place in Kuala Lumpur next month. A total of 28 movies from the 10 ASEAN countries and China will be screened at GSC Pavilion KL, GSC Mid Valley and GSC MyTown on 3 and 4 December 2017. Tickets to the film festival will be free of charge. Redemption for the tickets will begin this 1 December at the three participating GSC locations. ACFF 2017 is held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of ASEAN. The second edition of ACFF, to be held in 2018, will be taking place in Xiamen, Fujian Province of China. ASEAN titles that will be screened at ACFF 2017 are Malaysia's "Shuttle Life" and "Modern Day Love Stories"; Singapore's "Ah Boys to Men 4" and "Long Long Time Ago 2"; Indonesia's "#66" and "Pirate Brothers"; Cambodia's "Price of Love" and "Selfie King"; Philippines' "Women of the Weeping River" and "Birdshot", Myanmar's "By Coincidence" and "Let Pan", Thailand's "Wandering" and "Song from Phatthalung"; Vietnam's "Saigon I Love You"; Brunei's "Waris", Laos' "At the Horizon", "Swan Lifts Turtles", "Vientiane in Love", and "Really Love"; and Brunei-Laos production "Rina 2". Meanwhile, China has selected "Wolf Warrior 2", "Kung Fu Yoga", "Shock Wave", "Xuan Zang", "Saving Mr. Wu", "Book of Love: Finding Mr. Right 2" and "Where Has the Time Gone" to be shown at the film festival. Aside from the film screenings, there will also be an awards ceremony to be held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on the evening of 4 December. The accolades that will be handed out at the ceremony are Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and the Special Jury Award, the latter which will be awarded to 11 films, one selected from each of the ASEAN countries and China.
