1 Feb – Oscar nominee Nicole Kidman is in talks for a role in the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe movie, "Aquaman".

The 49-year-old actress is currently weighing the offer to play Aquaman's mother, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

If the movie were to follow the traditional "Aquaman" tale, Kidman would be up for the role of Atlanna, the titular superhero's mother who is a member of the Atlantean Royal Family and formerly the Queen of Atlantis.

Kidman is reportedly director James Wan's top choice to play the character.

Should she take up the offer, Kidman would be joining a confirmed cast that includes Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman, Amber Heard (Aquaman's royal love interest, Mera), Willem Dafoe (Aquaman's advisor, scientist Dr. Vulko) and Patrick Wilson (Aquaman's villainous half-brother, Orm).

Apart from Kidman, another actor is also currently in discussion to star in the movie. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who will also be seen in this year's "Baywatch", may be joining the project as the villain Black Manta.

Kidman was most recently seen in the Oscar-nominated movie "Lion", for which she earns a Best Supporting Actress nomination. The Australian actress is no stranger to the Oscars as she did previously win the Best Actress accolade in 2002.

"Aquaman" would not be Kidman's first DC movie as she previously starred as Professor Chase Meridian, Bruce Wayne's love interest in 1995's "Batman Forever".
