Can "Shuttle Life" continue its winning streak at the upcoming SGIFF?

25 Oct – The upcoming Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) 2017 has just revealed their full line-up, and among those are seven Malaysian movies.

Selected to compete at the festival's Silver Screen Awards are Aw See Wee's "Kampung Tapir", Amanda Nell Eu's "It's Easier to Raise Cattle" and the award-winning "Shuttle Life" by Tan Seng Kiat, which recently picked up Best Actor, Best Cinematography and Best Production Design at the 12th Chinese Young Generation Film Forum Awards in China.

While cross-country collaborations of "The White Girl" by Jenny Suen and Christopher Doyle, and "Marlina The Murderer in Four Acts" by Mouly Surya will be showcased at the festival's Special Presentation and Asian Vision, respectively.

The annually-held festival will also be celebrating the 10th anniversary of "Flower in the Pocket" by local filmmaker Liew Seng Tat under its Asian Vision segment, alongside Edmund Yeo's "AQÉRAT (We the Dead)".

"The demand for quality content has never been greater today. In the last one year, we have witnessed bold experimentation from film auteurs to showcase diversity in storylines, genres and styles, as they push the envelope in filmmaking," SGIFF Programme Director Pimpaka Towira said in a statement.

"Staying true to our role as a vital focal point to uncover these gems and boundary-pushing creativity, this year's festival line-up provides an insight into the talents that permeates the region and showcases the promise of the industry here in Asia."
