26 Feb – Malaysian director Edmund Yeo reveals that his third feature film is in the works and is expected to come out early 2019. During the "Aqerat" press conference held at Sungei Wang Plaza today, Yeo revealed that he already shot half of the movie that is given the title "Malu". "It is going to be about the journey of childhood to adulthood of two sisters, who were separated and are forced to grow up without each other," he explained.
When asked about the involvement of his frequent collaborator Daphne Low, he confirmed that the actress will not appear in this movie due to it being a completely different storyline, which will not have Hui Ling as a character.
The two have been working together since Yeo's first feature-length "River of Exploding Durians" and now "Aqerat", which will premiere at the Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) 2018 this 2 March. "Aqerat" is a thought-provoking movie about Hui Ling being mistakenly caught in the middle of human trafficking activities among Rohingya refugees.
