27 Mar – Fresh off of her performance in "Annihilation", Gina Rodriguez is set to star in yet another movie, only this time in a lead role in Netflix's "Carmen Sandiego". The American-born actress will portray the titular character in a feature movie that centers on the fictional Carmen Sandiego, a criminal mastermind whose adventures will embrace the beloved property, Deadline reported. This movie is an extension of Netflix's animated series of the same name, which also has Rodriguez voicing the anti-hero alongside "Stranger Things" star Finn Wolfhard. "Carmen Sandiego" is originally an '80s video game called "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?", which was popular as an edutainment to teach students geography.
Rodriguez, who was last seen in "Annihilation", will provide her voice in the animated movie "Smallfoot" as well and star in "Miss Bala", a remake of the 2011 Mexican movie about a beauty pageant contestant who witnesses the brutality of a drug gang and is dragged into its illegal business. Rodriguez plays the titular character on the TV comedy "Jane the Virgin", which won her her first Golden Globe and is currently on its fourth season this year.
