18 Apr – DC and Warner Bros. are about to make history via their choice of director for the upcoming "Birds Of Prey" movie. Cathy Yan will direct an all-girl team-up movie called "Birds Of Prey", making her the first female Asian director to join the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Yan will follow in the footsteps of Patty Jenkins and Ava DuVernay as female directors, and also James Wan ("Aquaman") as the second Asian director to helm a DCEU project.
The decision to hire Yan as a director for the big-budget DCEU movie is a bold one, considering her only directing experience was for a small indie movie called "Dead Pigs" which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
In addition to Yan's recruitment, Margot Robbie is confirmed to reprise her role as Harley Quinn who will be the movie's main focus. Besides "Bids Of Prey", other in-development DCEU movies that will feature Robbie's Harley Quinn includes "Gotham City Sirens", a "Joker / Harley Quinn" mash-up movie, and the "Suicide Squad" sequel. "Birds Of Prey" is a group of crime-fighting superheroines whose members include Batgirl, Black Canary, and Huntress; though there are still no casting details regarding those three characters.
