17 Apr – Australian actor Jason Clarke is currently in talks for the lead role in Paramount's remake of "Pet Sematary". The new adaptation of the Stephen King horror novel will be directed by helmers of "Starry Eyes", Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer. First published in 1983, "Pet Sematary" tells the tale of a doctor moving to the countryside along with his family only to discover that they will be living near a pet cemetery. Not long after settling down, his toddler son passed away from an accident which leads to the doctor bringing the boy's body to the cemetery where he is resurrected back to life but as a demon. The first adaptation of the novel was directed by Jeff Buhler in 1989 with Dale Midkiff as the role Clarke might be playing as, the doctor.
The sequel, "Pet Sematary Two" was released in 1992 with a different story and characters. It performed poorly at the box office. Clarke's no stranger to thriller films however, and this role might just be the right step forward for the actor as he recently starred in this year's horror film, "Winchester", alongside Helen Mirren.
