Dwayne Johnson confirms "Jumanji 3" is now in the works

Will Mouse stay safe in "Jumanji 3"?

12 Apr – It was announced a couple of months back that Sony Pictures has greenlit a follow-up to the highly successful "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" and now Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, a.k.a. star and producer of the 2017 movie, has confirmed that the third movie is already in the works.

Dwayne Johnson recently took to Instagram to thank fans for making "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" Sony's highest-grossing film ever in the US. In the same post, he revealed that the third "Jumanji" movie is currently in development.

Johnson also jokingly added that Kevin Hart's character, Mouse Finbar, would be killed off, fueling the friendly rivalry that these two actors have.

Currently, the movie stands at USD404 million at the US box office, making it the highest-grossing Sony movie after successfully surpassing 2002's "Spider-Man" record by USD8540. Worldwide, it has made USD951 million.

Last year's "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" acts as an updated sequel to 1995's "Jumanji" that starred the late Robin Williams. The third movie, dubbed "Jumanji 3" for now, will be a follow-up to the 2017 movie. Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan are returning to star with Jake Kasdan expected to be back in the director's chair.

Despite plot details currently being under wraps, the latest "Jumanji" movie is planned for a December 2019 release.
