27 Jul – Four months after announcing the live-action/CG remake of its popular animated movie "Lady and the Tramp", Disney has now sniffed out the perfect actor to voice the titular male lead. Justin Theroux is in final negotiations to lend his voice to the mongrel, according to Collider, which was voiced by Larry Roberts in the original animated version. There is no news yet on who will be starring opposite Theroux as the voice of the American Cocker Spaniel, Lady. However, Emmy-nominated actress Ashley Jensen is already tapped to voice Jackie, a Scottish Terrier who is one of Lady's closest friends. The character was originally named Jock and voiced by Bill Thompson in the 1955 movie.
This project will team up Theroux with director Charlie Bean again, who was one of the helmers (alongside Paul Fisher and Bob Logan) of "The Lego Ninjago Movie", in which Theroux voiced the Dark Ninja, Lord Garmadon. Scripted by Andrew Bujalski with Brigham Taylor producing, the live-action "Lady and the Tramp" is not planned for a theatrical release as it is to be made available exclusively on Disney's streaming service. Before we catch Theroux as Tramp, see him soon in "The Spy Who Dumped Me" and hear him voice Dropkick in the upcoming "Bumblebee".
