"Spider-Man: Far From Home" might have added another villain

The 2019 sequel to "Spider-Man: Homecoming" might have added another villain for Spidey to fight.

18 Jul – As if Jake Gyllenhaal playing a supervillain is not enough to lure fans to the enticing web of the upcoming Spidey sequel, another name has just been added to the cast and it is presumed that the new addition will also play a baddie in the movie.

Numan Acar ("12 Strong", TV's "Prison Break") has been revealed as the newest cast member of "Spider-Man: Far From Home", Deadline reports.

Not much information has been revealed regarding the character the German-Turkish actor will be playing, apart from his name – Dimitri.

However, that is enough to bring about speculation that his role in the movie is most likely the supervillain Chameleon, who also goes by Dmitri Smerdyakov in the comics.

If this is true, this will mark Chameleon's silver screen debut.

Introduced in the 1963 original issue of "The Amazing Spider-Man", the character is the first supervillain fought by Spider-Man. The Master of Disguise, also the half-brother of Kraven the Hunter, has previously appeared in video games and TV adaptation but never in movies.

If Acar takes the role, he will be joining returning cast Tom Holland who plays the titular web-slinger, Zendaya as Michelle, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Michael Keaton as Vulture, as well as comedian J.B. Smoove who has also been tapped for the sequel.

Reportedly, Gyllenhaal is still in talks to play supervillain Mysterio, there is no confirmation yet even though news of him potentially taking up the role broke two months ago.

"Spider-Man: Far From Home", sequel to last year's "Spider-Man: Homecoming", is scheduled to swing onto the big screen in July 2019.

This means Acar will have at least two big movies coming out next year as he is also part of the live-action "Aladdin" adaptation that is releasing in May.
