Two "Spider-Man" spinoff movies dated for 2020

One of the movies is speculated to be the sequel to this year's "Venom".

22 Nov – Two 2020 release dates have been set by Sony Pictures for a couple of its movies from the Marvel universe.

The dates are 10 July 2020 and 2 October 2020, according to Deadline.

The studio did not reveal the titles of the upcoming movies but this hasn't stop speculations from mushrooming online. The most likely candidates for the two spots are the previously announced "Morbius" and the-yet-to-be-announced-but-is-highly-expected "Venom 2".

It was revealed back in June that Jared Leto will playing the titular Living Vampire in "Morbius", though it wasn't revealed then the release date for the movie. Hence the reason why now fans and critics alike are certain that the summer slot is reserved for it.

The fall slot is expected to be for the sequel to this year's Tom Hardy-starring "Venom". The actor himself said he has signed for three movies. A two-year gap is just the right amount of time for a sequel to be released.

However, there is another Marvel movie, this one from Fox, that is scheduled for the same fall date. It remains to be seen whether both Marvel movies will go head-to-head with each other. Though most likely, one of the titles will be moved to a different date.

While these are not confirmed yet, fans can take solace in knowing that there are two Sony/Marvel Spidey movies that are coming soon.

First up is the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", swinging onto the big screen this December. Next is "Spider-Man: Far From Home", which will see Tom Holland reprising the titular webslinger role in July 2019.
