Michelle Yeoh to lead "Star Trek" spinoff series

Michelle Yeoh says that she's excited to continue telling these rich "Star Trek" stories.

15 Jan – Michelle Yeoh is set to return as Captain Philippa Georgiou in a new "Star Trek" spinoff series.

The news confirmed the rumor that has been circulating since November and the series is now in the early stages of development.

"I'm so excited to continue telling these rich "Star Trek" stories," said Yeoh, as quoted by Deadline.

"Being a part of this Universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can't wait to see where it all goes – certainly I believe it will go 'where no WOMAN has ever gone before!'"

The new spinoff will continue Captain Philippa Georgiou's "Star Trek: Discovery" Season 2 adventures while in the Starfleet's Section 31 division and explore a new chapter of the character's life.

No release date or title has been announced at the moment for the new "Star Trek" spinoff series.

Yeoh first debuted as Captain Philippa Georgiou in a guest role on the first season of "Star Trek: Discovery". She also appeared in another spinoff, "Star Trek: Short Treks", and will be seen reprising the role again soon in the second season of "Star Trek: Discovery", which premieres this week.
