Sequel confirmed for DC's highest-grossing movie, "Aquaman"

28 Jan - Great news for "Aquaman" fans (or Jason Momoa fans), you'll get to see more of the superhero on the big screen.

A sequel is now in development, Deadline is reporting, with Warner Bros. in the process of getting James Wan back on board as director.

When asked last month about his return for an "Aquaman" sequel, Wan said that he hasn't signed on for any follow-ups yet. Latest update brings words that the director is waiting to see the script first. If he gets a good one in hand, then it's a go for the sequel.

Wan will reportedly oversee the sequel's development, including selecting the right writers for it.

It's a no-brainer that the studio would want Wan back for the sequel, since he successfully made last year's "Aquaman" the highest-grossing DC movie.

Last weekend, the Jason Momoa-led movie topped Christopher Nolan's 2012 "The Dark Knight Rises", beating the latter's USD1.085 billion worldwide collection with its USD1.091 billion, based on Box Office Mojo stats.

This makes "Aquaman" the biggest DC Comics movie ever and Warner Bros.' third biggest movie worldwide.

The figure is expected to balloon more since it has yet to open in Japan, where it will only start screening early next month.
