2 Mar - Last Valentine's Day brought news that one of the major stars of "Suicide Squad" was not appearing in the upcoming sequel. Well, another A-lister has also exited the project. Not that Will Smith was ever officially announced to be returning as Deadshot in "The Suicide Squad", but it has always been expected that both the actor and co-star Margot Robbie would be reprising their highly popular roles. Of course, as was revealed last month, Robbie's Harley Quinn wouldn't be in the sequel, and as Variety has reported, Smith is now also no longer part of it. Interestingly, Smith's part could be recast if Deadshot is still included in the second instalment. Unlike Robbie, who will still be playing Harley Quinn in possibly several spinoffs, Smith's Deadshot is not signed on for any other DC movies at the moment. Warner Bros. executives are still debating on whether to recast the role or remove Deadshot from the movie, that is by replacing him with a different character from the DC universe. Smith's departure is reportedly due to scheduling conflict. Almost two years ago, he was claimed to have slowed down the production of the sequel as he was busy filming "Aladdin" and "Gemini Man". This time around it is not specified which of his many upcoming projects he will be busy with in fall. "The Suicide Squad", written and directed by James Gunn, is marching onto the big screen on 6 August 2021.
