25 Jan – Vin Diesel's Instagram is all about his "Fast and Furious" movies these days. His latest back-to-back posts on the action franchise should get fans' engines revving. The first update, posted just yesterday, was about the female spinoff of the franchise. "As you know, there are three new spin offs that We have promised Universal... well this week we heard a pitch for the Fast female protagonist driven spinoff I created in 2017, and you can tell by the smile on Samantha's face it was VERY exciting," he posted. "Shout out to Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer, Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Welcome to the Fast FAMILY..." The three writers he mentioned are, of course, the ones who will be penning the script for the spinoff. Perlman's screenplay resume includes "Guardians of the Galaxy", Lindsey Beer is writing the untitled "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot, while Geneva Robertson-Dworet rewrote the Alicia Vikander-starring "Tomb Raider".

His newest post is a video of him and "Fast and Furious" co-star Michelle Rodriguez sending their message of support for the anti-socialist protests currently happening in Venezuela. However, the post is captioned "Crew heads out to London next month for the next chapter...", with the hashtag #FAST9. So simultaneously, the actor was revealing that the ninth instalment of the franchise will begin filming in London next month. Rodriguez's presence in the video indicates that the actress would be returning, even though she previously threatened to leave the franchise if the female cast continued to receive minimal roles in the movies. It is unknown whether Rodriguez will lead the abovementioned female spinoff or new actresses will be cast for it. To be directed by Justin Lin, most of the original cast is expected to reprise their roles for "Fast and Furious 9". Though Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's status are not confirmed since both are busy filming the spinoff "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw", which, as the title says, stars both their characters. Since Tyrese Gibson is listed as one of the returning actors, Vin Diesel might also not have him sharing a set with Johnson so soon. The rapper has been very vocal about his dissatisfaction with the Johnson-led spinoff, to the point that he even threatened to leave if Johnson returned for the ninth movie. "Fast and Furious 9" is racing onto the North American big screen on 10 April 2020 while "Hobbs & Shaw" opens this year on 2 August.
