"World War Z 2" officially dead before filming gets to start

Even Brad Pitt can't bring "World War Z 2" to life.

7 Feb - Brad Pitt really, really wants to return for a "World War Z" sequel but looks like the second movie has dropped dead – and it's not coming back to life.

The Playlist is reporting that Paramount Pictures has pulled the plug on the project, which was supposed to have started filming this year.

Production on the movie was originally scheduled to begin this summer, which includes a six-month long shoot in Atlanta and filming across five countries.

Budget is stated as a possible reason for the cancellation. Director David Fincher and his team proposed a production budget lower than the original – which was USD190 million, based on Box Office Mojo stats, before the 2013 movie underwent costly reshoots.

The studio could now be using the fund on Tom Cruise's seventh and eighth "Mission: Impossible" movies instead, which will be shot back-to-back.

The death of "World War Z 2" probably shouldn't come as a surprise even to the most hardcore fans, since two years ago it was already reported that the studio dropped the movie from its release schedule and there's not been much update since then.

"World War Z 2" was supposed to have opened in North American cinemas on 9 June 2017 before it was pulled.
