8 Sep – The movie "Mahathir: The Journey", which was originally expected to be released in July this year in conjunction with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's birth month, has now set a new release date – July 2021. The news was announced by the production company Reliance Media Group via the official social media page of "Mahathir: The Journey" during the 63rd Independence Day celebration recently. To date, the production company has yet to announce further details, apart from the new release date, since the movie is still in post-production. The movie, produced by the late Yusof Kelana, who also served as the creative director, completed its filming last mid-February. However, as previously reported, the filming in Hiroshima, Japan, which revolves around a pivotal scene, had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scene's filming was later relocated to Langkawi. "Mahathir: The Journey", directed by Professor Dr Mohamad Hatta Azad Khan, follows Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's life after stepping down as the 4th prime minister in 2003 until his reelection as the 7th prime minister in 2018. Actor Azhar Amir and singer Fauziah Latiff were cast to star as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Siti Hasmah, respectively.
