2 May – Good news for fans of the "Now You See Me" franchise, Lionsgate is moving forward with its plans for a third magical movie.

"Now You See Me 3" is no new news for fans, talks of it being produced have been around since 2015. In fact, director Jon M. Chu, who helmed the second movie, announced his return to the director's seat back in 2016, before "Now You See Me 2" was even theatrically released.

Despite the sequel's box office success, however, the third movie remained mysteriously missing from Lionsgate's slates – until now.

Screen Rant reported that the studio is planning to bring back the star-studded cast in their respective roles, which include Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Daniel Radcliffe, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and possibly both Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan (who replaced Fisher in the sequel) as well.

However, no deal has been made so far. The latest update is that Eric Warren Singer, writer of "American Hustle" and co-writer of "Top Gun: Maverick", has been tapped to pen the script based on his own new idea.

"Eric has always been fascinated with the fine art of deception and illusion in all of its forms and he came to us with a great story that takes the mythology of Now You See Me and pushes The Four Horsemen to a whole new level with our key returning cast and new characters," said Nathan Kahane, President of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.

"The Now You See Me franchise has been built on keeping the audience surprised and guessing. Any great magician knows, you can't keep doing the same tricks. And Eric and his team of illusionists have something special up their sleeve for this new film," he added.

There's no word on whether Chu will still be helming the third movie. It was just a couple of weeks back that he told ComingSoon.net, "Before I did Crazy Rich Asians, there was a version [of the script] that was okay, but we weren't going to drag everyone back until it was great."

Fans will just have to wait and see if Chu will be back for "Now You See Me 3", or as he calls it, "Now You 3 Me".
