14 Dec – It's true that there's not much competition when it comes to local movie releases this year, what with most titles being delayed due to the pandemic, but there's no denying that "Roh" is one of the best movies to have come out of the Malaysian film industry in 2020.

So much so it has impressed Asian Movie Pulse enough to rank in the Asian film-focused website's list of the 25 best Asian Films of this year.

The Emir Ezwan-helmed horror movie comes in at 25, not a bad spot considering the other Asian titles it had to go up against. It is the only Malaysian movie that made the list, while Singapore also has one film – the 2-minute short film, "Sexy Sushi".

South Korean and Japanese films dominated the list with 10 and 7 titles, respectively, with four of the South Korean films landing in the Top 5.

Prior to that, it collected more than RM500,000 after six weeks of screening at cinemas in Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. It is also set to be released in Cambodian cinemas, though the date is recently unconfirmed due to cinema reclosures.

Starring only six cast members, Farah Ahmad, Mhia Farhana, Harith Haziq and Putri Syahadah Nurqaseh, as well as husband-and-wife duo Namron and Junainah M. Lojong, "Roh" tells of a poor family living at the edge of the woods who begin facing strange incidents following the arrival of a mysterious and sinister guest.
