Dwayne Johnson's heist movie cancels filming in Italy due to coronavirus

3 Mar – A portion of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's "Red Notice" was originally scheduled to be filmed in Italy. However, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country, filming there might not proceed.

Deadline is reporting that Netflix is currently considering other locations. There's no confirmation yet but this might mean a slight delay if script revision needs to be done.

Good news is most of the movie has already been filmed in Atlanta. It just remains to be seen whether Netflix will wait for the condition in Italy to improve or relocate part of the movie's setting to a different country.

The Rock reunites with writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber ("Skyscraper", "Central Intelligence") for the heist thriller, in which he stars as an Interpol agent hunting down the world's most wanted art thief.

Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds co-star as the world's greatest art thief
and the world's greatest conman, respectively.

"Red Notice" was previously scheduled for a November 2020 release but after Netflix took over from Universal Pictures last July as the distributing company, it has yet to receive a confirmed release date.

Italy currently has the highest coronavirus cases of any country outside of Asia, according to CNN, with more than 1,600 cases confirmed and 34 deaths reported. The outbreak has prompted the postponement of the annual Udine Far East Film Festival and also halted the filming of Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible 7".
