28 Jul – After it was reported that there will be a sequel to the iconic horror movie, "The Exorcist" from Blumhouse, it was revealed that the said project is not just one, not two, but a whole trilogy. Original star Ellen Burstyn, who plays Chris MacNeil in the 1973 movie, will be reprising her role in the new instalment alongside "Hamilton" star Leslie Odom Jr, which will not be a remake but a continuation of the original film. Jason Blum is set to produce alongside James Robinson and David Robinson of Morgan Creek, which holds the rights to the "Exorcist" franchise.
Director David Gordon Green will pick up where it left off, with Odom playing the father of a possessed child. Desperate for help, he tracks down Burstyn's character, whose daughter Regan was possessed by an evil entity known as Pazuzu in the first film. There has been no news if Linda Blair, who played the poor possessed child in the first film, will be back as well. The first film will be released in cinemas in October 2023.
