17 Jun – Brad Pitt is set to produce a new movie with MGM based on a novel by Chandler Baker through his company, Plan B Entertainment. The upcoming movie, titled "The Husbands", follows Nora Spangler, who finds herself dragged into a mess after being introduced to a group of high-powered women with supportive husbands while she goes house-hunting in a suburban neighbourhood called Dynasty Ranch. The synopsis on Collider read, "When Nora agrees to help with a resident's wrongful death case involving the woman's husband, she is pulled into the lives of the women there and uncovers a plot that may explain the secret to having it all... one that's worth killing for." The movie is based on Chandler Baker's book of the same name, and will have the bestselling author penning the script herself. It will star Kristen Wiig in the lead. It is said that the movie will be in the veins of "The Stepford Wives", the 1972 satirical novel about men with submissive beautifull wives by Ira Levin that has been adapted twice in 1975 and 2004 - the latter starring Nicole Kidman.
Pitt's production company has produced several successful titles over the years, with one of the most recent ones, the Lee Isaac Chung film "Minari" being nominated Best Picture at the 93rd Academy Awards. It is also currently developing Chung's next movie as well as other adaptations including Miriam Toews' novel "Women Talking", M.T. Anderson's novel, "Landscape With Invisible Hand", and Ta-Nehisi Coates' novel, "The Water Dancer".
