26 May - Yes, you read that right. Our boy Timothée Chalamet will be playing our favourite candy man, Willy Wonka in an upcoming prequel to be produced by Warner Bros. The 25 year-old star reportedly will be playing the younger version of the famous Roald Dahl character as he embarks on an adventure prior to him opening his world famous chocolate factory. Sources claimed that the movie, titled "Wonka", will enable Chalamet to show off his singing and dancing skills.
The project will be helmed by British director Paul King of "Paddington" fame, with the script written by him and Simon Farnaby. This will be WB's third Wonka movie, following the 1971 Gene Wilder-starrer and the 2005 movie starring Johnny Depp in the titular role. Chalamet has been busy for the past few years after exploding on the movie scene through the romance drama, "Call Me By Your Name", with his recent and upcoming movies include "Little Women", "Dune", Wes Anderson's "The French Dispatch", and Adam McKay's "Don't Look Up".
