7 Jun - In true Disney fashion, the success of its latest movie, "Cruella" meant more interest for the studio to continue with expanding the franchise further. According to Hollywood Reporter, sources are revealing that there may be a second movie in the works as "Cruella" enters its second week, with director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara to return. It is noted that the film has already earned close to USD 50 million globally and received positive reviews from critics and public alike. Emma Stone especially is receiving rave reviews for her performance as the iconic villain.
"We are very pleased with Cruella's box office success, in conjunction with its strong Disney+ Premier Access performance to date," said a Disney spokesperson in a statement. "The film has been incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to A's in every demographic from CinemaScore on opening weekend, ranking it among the most popular of our live-action re-imaginings. We look forward to a long run as audiences continue to enjoy this fantastic film." The movie, which stars Emma Stone in an origin movie about the "101 Dalmation" villainess Cruella de Vil, debuted on 28 May simultaneously in theatres and on Disney+ Premier Access.
