16 Apr – Peter Dinklage is set to play the lead in the upcoming remake of the 1984 superhero dark comedy, "The Toxic Avenger". The "Game of Thrones" star, most known for his role as the cunning Tyrion Lannister, will play the titular role of Melvin Ferd, the normal man who turned into a mutant vigilante after being pushed into a vat of toxic waste. Dinklage will be joined by young actor Jacob Tremblay ("Room", "Doctor Sleep"), though there is no news as to what character Tremblay will play in the movie.
The upcoming movie is set to be helmed by Macon Blair ("I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore"), who previously starred in the Netflix movie, "I Care A Lot" alongside Rosamund Pike and Dinklage himself. The original 1984 movie is now a cult classic which has spun three sequels, a stage musical production, a video game and a children's TV cartoon. Original creators Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz of Troma Entertainment are also serving as producers. Aside from the upcoming movie, Dinklage will be seen next playing Cyrano Bergerac in Joe Wright's upcoming musical drama film, "Cyrano" - based on the 1897 Edmond Rostand play.
