23 Jul – Hey, remember that time Vin Diesel said that he was indeed trying to push Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's buttons in "Fast and Furious" so that audiences will see him as an actor instead of a former WWE champion as if Johnson has not already been an actor for ten years before doing "The Fast Saga"? Well, according to Johnson, he "laughed and laughed hard". "I think everyone had a laugh at that," Johnson said, when asked about it in an interview to promote "Jungle Cruise" alongside Emily Blunt. "And I'll leave it at that. And that I've wished them well." Johnson is also declaring that he is not returning to the franchise by adding, "I wish them well on 'Fast 9.' And I wish them the best of luck on 'Fast 10' and 'Fast 11' and the rest of the 'Fast & Furious' movies they do that will be without me."
In a previous interview with Men's Health, Diesel was asked about the real-life feud between him and Johnson while they were filming the 2011's "Fast Five", saying that it took a lot of tough love and a lot of work to get Johnson's federal agent Luke Hobbs' character right. "It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character. My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be. That's something that I'm proud of, that aesthetic," he said. "That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I'd have to do in order to get performances in anything I'm producing." Speaking to the interviewer about Diesel's comment, Emily Blunt chimed in to Johnson, "Just thank God he was there. Thank God. He carried you through that." "Felliniesque," Johnson replied.
