24 Aug – While other MCU actors have been silent about Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit against Disney, the actress finally gets one supporter in the likes of Wanda Maximoff herself, Elizabeth Olsen. The "WandaVision" star, who sat down alongside "Ted Lasso" actor Jason Sudeikis in an interview with Vanity Fair recently, had this to say when asked about the "Black Widow" star's decision to go after the House of Mouse. "I think she's so tough and literally when I read [about the lawsuit] I was like, 'Good for you Scarlett,'" Olsen stated. "When it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that's just... that's just all contracts. So it's either in the contract or it's not."
Sudeikis, whose also friends with fellow "SNL" alum and Johansson's husband Colin Jost echoed Olsen's sentiment, adding that the decision "is appropriately badass and on-brand" for the said actress. Earlier this week, Johansson's lawyer blasted Disney for trying to go into closed door arbitration to resolve the matter concerning the actress' lawsuit, instead of opting to go on trial. "Why is Disney so afraid of litigating this case in public? Because it knows that Marvel's promises to give Black Widow a typical theatrical release 'like its other films' had everything to do with guaranteeing that Disney wouldn't cannibalise box office receipts in order to boost Disney+ subscriptions," said Johansson's legal rep, John Berlinski.
