9 Jul – Following Vanessa Redgrave's denial of her involvement in husband Franco Nero's upcoming movie, "The Man Who Drew God", it was reported that the film has already found its star in fellow veteran actress Faye Dunaway. According to Hollywood Reporter, Dunaway will now play the role previously offered to Redgrave by Nero, which is described as an old Braille teacher who is a friend of the blind protagonist - which will be portrayed by Nero himself. The Italian filmmaker previously stated that Redgrave is in talks to play the role, but the veteran actress released a statement soon after saying that she will not appear in the film - following the backlash over the news that the Italian film will also be Kevin Spacey's comeback vehicle. The plot reportedly revolves around a blind artist who is able to draw portraits of people based on their voices, and has been accused of sexually abusing children. Spacey plays a detective investigating the case.
Spacey has been on hiatus since 2017, after he was accused of sexual misconduct against at least 20 young men while he was the artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London. Spacey has denied all the accusations. The actor served as the theatre's artistic director from 2004 to 2015. "Billionaire Boys Club", which was Spacey's last movie in 2018, was a flop. It became famous for all the wrong reasons – by being associated to Spacey even though he only had a small part in the film. It was made before those accusations came to light, and released after. This is not the first time Dunaway has worked with Spacey. The actress was cast in his directorial debut, "Albino Alligator" in 1996.
