1 Aug - After Scarlett Johansson surprised the industry with her lawsuit against Disney, it was reported that another actor has also sued a different studio over profit issue. Scottish actor Gerard Butler, who starred in the 2013 action flick, "Olympus Has Fallen", was revealed to have filed a lawsuit against the film's producers Nu Image, Millennium Media and Padre Nuestro Productions in a profits dispute over the original film of the said franchise. Butler's team in its filing in Los Angeles Superior Court, claimed that the actor was owed more than USD 10 million in profits after an independent audit found that the three parties "understated their own receipts and profits by over $11 million, including by failing to report approximately $8 million in payments to Producers' own senior executives."
The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starred Butler as disgraced Secret Service Agent Mike Banning who has to rescue the president from a terrorist attack, grossed USD 170 million worldwide, with the actor enjoying none in net profits.
Butler reprised his Mike Banning role in 2016's "London Has Fallen" and 2019's "Angel Has Fallen" for Lionsgate, with the next film, "Night Has Fallen" currently in development.
