8 Apr – The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is back, but instead of the giant monster that wrecks a city, there is now a throng of them - now coming in bite-size Mini Pufts. In a preview trailer of the highly-anticipated Sony Pictures' upcoming "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" that was released on 8 April, Paul Rudd's character could be seen confronted by these mini marshmallows running amok while shopping at a supermarket. These creatures may look tiny and cute, but from the looks of it, it could be more of a nuisance that Slimer himself.
Conceptualised by actor and writer Dan Aykroyd, the original Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, also known as Mr. Stay-Puft, first appeared in the original 1984 "Ghostbusters". It was said to be inspired by Michelin's Bibendum (also known as the "Michelin Man"), with Aykroyd saying that he created it to show that "it seems harmless and puffy and cute-but given the right circumstances, everything can be turned black and become evil."
The upcoming movie, directed by Jason Reitman, sees the return of Bill Murray as Dr Peter Venkman, as well as other original cast members. The movie revolves around a single mum and her two kids, who begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind after they arrive in a small town. It stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson, and Paul Rudd. The film is set to be released in theatres this November.
