17 Dec – Not a month after announcing that he will no longer work as an actor, Hans Isaac has launched his own cinema chain. The 50-year-old shared the good news recently, saying that the new theatre chain, 10Star Cinemas, has now opened in Tawau, Sabah on 16 December and it will be a way for him to help the local film industry. The second cinema is due to be opened in Sandakan very soon. "When I run a cinema business, I can indirectly help my fellow creatives who are in front or behind the camera. Because of that, I only open cinemas in places where there are no other entertainment outlets," he said.
10Star Cinemas has a very aggressive plan to open many more locations in the next year. The point that separates 10Star Cinemas from all the other chains will be that all their locations will be operating out of shoplots so that they can be closer to the local communities. Hans also expressed hope that his initiative will create more jobs for the people. "This business is not just about watching movies, but I hope to create a community and economic ecosystem for a better life," he added.
