The first "Krrish" movie helmed by Hrithik's father Rakesh Roshan came in 2003, though it was not a superhero film and was instead a sci-fi film called "Koi... Mil Gaya" about the friendship between Rohit (Hrithik Roshan), a developmentally disabled man; and Jadoo, an extra-terrestrial being that he contacted with his late father's computer. It was later followed by "Krrish" in 2006 - which revolves around Rohit son's Krishna (also played by Hrithik Roshan) who inherits his father's superpower, and subsequently "Krrish 3" in 2013, both movies co-starring Priyanka Chopra. Previously, it was reported that the fourth movie was ready to begin filming last year for a Christmas 2020 release, but that Rakesh had to postpone the project due to the pandemic.
