19 Apr – After much speculations about whether or not the "Home Alone" reboot is going as planned, one of its stars Kenan Thompson assured that everything is getting along well for the production. Speaking about the movie on "Watch What Happens Live!", the SNL star stated that the reboot is nearing the end of production after much delays due to the pandemic. "I'll spill all the details. It was a long shoot. It started in Canada and then got shut down and came back around because of the pandemic and stuff, so it's been very splotchy, I guess, as far as trying to get it done is concerned. But I think they're getting very close to finishing it. And I did like [audio recording] for it recently, and that's usually one of the last steps," he said.
No release date has been determined for the said movie, though it is expected to be released sometime next year. The upcoming movie also co-stars other funny actors including Ellie Kemper ("Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"), Rob Delaney ("Deadpool 2") and Thompson's fellow SNL alum, Chris Parnell. It is being directed by Dan Mazer, with the script coming from SNL writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. Not much details has been released about the plot of the reboot. Directed by Chris Columbus, the original "Home Alone" was released in 1990 and became a surprise hit, with its child actor and lead star Macaulay Culkin becoming a household name soon after. Culkin, who is now 40, recently welcomed his first child with partner and actress Brenda Song. The baby is named Dakota in honour of Culkin's late sister.
