15 Jan – There seems to be a lack of movies produced with a skateboarding concept even though this is a very popular activity for the millennials. Hence director Khairil M. Bahar took the interest and initiative to produce one and gives us the film "Kickflip."

Khairil - who before this was well-known by his action-packed dance film "Showdown The Movie"- plays the lead character in this indie film.

In fact, Khairil collaborated with famous skater Syed Qodeem to perform the skateboarding action scenes and stunts in the film, which also has a special appearance from legendary skater, Joe Ipoh.

According to Khairil, the film is intended to inspire and give tribute to the youngsters who skateboard as their hobby.

"Kickflip" tells the story of a Kuala Lumpur lad named Johan in overcoming life's obstacles and challenges, and how he ultimately discovers and finds his passion in skateboarding.

"Kickflip" received its premiere screening at the Kota Kinabalu International Film Festival (KKIFF) which was held online from 5 to 13 September last year.

In addition to "Kickflip", another Khairil M. Bahar-helmed film "Cuak" is also screened on MUBI.
