Michael Keaton shares why he is returning as Batman in "The Flash"

20 Aug – Returning as the cape crusader in "The Flash" 32 years since "Batman", Michael Keaton revealed the reason why he decided to make his comeback.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 69 year-old stated that he has always thought about returning to the superhero role following the 1992 movie, "Batman Returns".


"Frankly, in the back of my head, I always thought, 'I bet I could go back and nail that [expletive].' And so I thought, 'Well, now that they're asking me, let me see if I can pull that off'," he said.

Keaton was actually offered to return for 1995's "Batman Forever" after doing two Batman movies with Tim Burton, but declined to do so as he didn't like the script. The role was then given to Val Kilmer.

The same cannot be said with the script of "The Flash", which coupled with director Andy Muschietti's vision, really inspired the actor to return.

"What's really interesting is how much more I got [Batman] when I went back and did him. I get this on a whole other level now," he said.

"The Flash" is scheduled for release on 4 November 2022.
