14 Dec – After it was announced last fall that "Legally Blonde 3" will be released sometime in May next year, Reese Witherspoon recently confirmed that the project is still ongoing. The actress-producer, who hasn't released any new updates about the third instalment since the last announcement, shared the good news at the red carpet for "Sing 2", saying, "We are just working on a script right now and when we have a script then we can make a movie." When asked when the script will be completed, Witherspoon stated that that question should be answered by Mindy Kaling. Earlier it was reported that the comedienne and "The Mindy Project" star will be writing the movie with "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" producer Dan Goor.
"I don't know, but she and I talk about it all the time. We're super psyched about it," Witherspoon added about the project. With the script yet to be completed, it seems that it is highly likely that the movie will not be released on schedule. The first film, which was released in 2001 and stars Witherspoon as sorority girl Elle Woods who decides to win back her boyfriend by getting a degree in Harvard Law School, shot Witherspoon to stardom, turning her into an A-list Hollywood star. Its sequel was released two years later.
