Dear Readers, it has been a pleasure to be your Duke. But move on, I must.

7 Apr – After the Twitter chaos that was triggered by the news that Regé-Jean Page will not return for season 2 of "Bridgerton", sources recently revealed that the decision was actually made by the actor himself, who wanted to focus on his movie career.

In a previous interview with Variety, Page revealed that he originally signed on to star in the Netflix Regence Era series for one season, and treated it as a one-off project seeing that each season will focus on different "Bridgerton" children.

However, sources recently revealed that Page had actually been offered an opportunity to return as the Duke of Hastings for five episodes of season two earlier this year, with a rate of USD 50,000 per episode.

Page instead declined, and chose to focus on his rising film career - having received offers from studios left and right.

The actor has recently wrapped filming the Russo brothers' Netflix film "The Gray Man" opposite Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas, and will be starring in Paramount's "Dungeons and Dragons" movie that co-stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith.

On the other hand, season 2 of the hit show will focus on the character Anthony Bridgerton - based on Julia Quinn's second book on the series, "The Viscount Who Loved Me".

The second series will be based on the second book of Julia Quinn's series
