23 Apr – The supposed surprise appearance of Russell Crowe in "Thor: Love and Thunder" is no surprise anymore, now that the actor himself has revealed the character he will play in the movie. The actor, who set tongues wagging when he was spotted hanging out with several cast members of the upcoming movie in Australia, recently did an interview with Australian radio station Joy 94.9 where he admitted that he would be playing the role of Greek god and ruler of the Olympians, Zeus - stating that it was his last day of filming and "Zeus-ing it up" for the movie.
While Marvel Studios is known for their secrecy, it seems that they might have given the actor the green light to share about his character - that is unless Crowe really didn't care about the rules. In the "Thor" comic book, Zeus is a long-time friend and occasional rival of Thor's father, Odin. He is also the father of the legendary demigod Hercules who joins the Avengers in the 80s and 90s. The Olympians are also connected to the Eternals, which has now sparked speculations about where Marvel is heading with the future of MCU. Crowe's revelation might also mean that that his character may be one of the targets of the movie's supervillain Gorr (played by Jason Bateman), known as the God Butcher. Directed by Taika Waititi, "Thor: Love and Thunder" will hit theatres on 11 February 2022.
