23 Aug – Despite playing the villain in Marvel's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings", Hong Kong star Tony Leung stated that he didn't approach his character as a villain at all.

In an interview to promote the movie recently, Tony, who plays Wenwu, Shang-Chi's father and the leader of the Ten Rings organisation, stated that Marvel came to him wanting him to create a brand new version of the comic supervillain Mandarin.

"I got to develop my character along with the filming. I've never approached Wenwu from a villain's standpoint. Rather, I tried to explore the reasons that led him to become who he is," Tony said. "He's a man with a history, who craves to be loved. He is also human, and he has a family."

Tony stated that he began to consider the many reasons why Wenwu became a sociopath and a narcissist as he read the script, and decided to view him more as a human being instead of a villain.

"Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings" is set for a worldwide release on 3 September 2021.
