23 Jul – Zack Snyder and wife Deborah Snyder's company, Stone Quarry Productions has recently signed a two-year first-look deal with Netflix. The filmmaker, most known for "Justice League" and "Army of the Dead", is already writing, directing and producing another new project with Netflix called "Rebel Moon", and reportedly will be helming a sequel to his zombie heist flick, "Army of the Dead". Not much information has been released about the sequel, except that Snyder will be co-writing the film with Shay Hatten, who also wrote the first movie. "I've known Zack and Deb for years and was fortunate to be part of 'Dawn of the Dead', his first film," said Netflix head Scott Stuber. "I have since had the privilege of watching his career grow and see the evolving impact of his work. To see him return to his roots with 'Army of the Dead', which is now one of our most popular films, and build a world out of these characters with the upcoming 'Army of Thieves' and anime series, is amazing to see. We've only scratched the surface of what's still to come and create with Zack, Deb, Wes and everyone at Stone Quarry."
On the other hand, the director is also currently producing two "Army of the Dead" spin-offs; an anime series called "Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas", and a prequel entitled, "Army of Thieves" featuring the safecracker, Ludwig Dieter, played by German actor Matthias Schweighöfer who will be reprising his role as the safecracker. The anime is set to premiere in Spring 2022. Other project developed for Netflix by Stone Quarry Productions is another animated series, "Twilight of the Gods".
