9 Apr – Who would have thought! Zlatan Ibrahimovic is making his acting debut in the fifth live-action film of the children's franchise, "Asterix & Obelix". The AC Milan striker confirmed his involvement in the upcoming movie recently, titled " "Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom", by posting a photo on Instagram bearing the word ANTIVIRUS, which is in reference to the character Caius Antivirus he is to play in the upcoming project.
The 39 year-old Swede previously spoke about his interest in acting after performing a duet with Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic at Italy's Sanremo festival in March.
The upcoming French/Italian fantasy-comedy film will star Guillaume Canet as Asterix, while Gilles Lellouche will replace Gerard Depardieu as Obelix. Other cast members include Vincent Cassel as Cesar, Marion Cotillard as Cleopatra and Jonathan Cohen as Finalthesis. Canet is also set to direct the upcoming project, which is scheduled for release in 2022. The movie is based on the Belgian-French comic book series written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo about Gaulish warriors as they resist Roman occupation in 50 BCE.
