16 Nov – Aamir Khan will not be starring in his new movie, "Champion" as previously rumoured. The actor, who was originally set to star and produce the Indian remake of the 2018 Spanish movie, "Campeones", stated that he wants to focus more on his family after doing "Laal Singh Chaddha". "It's a wonderful script, it's a beautiful story, and it's a very heartwarming and lovely film but I feel I want to take a break. I want to be with my family, I want to be with my mum and my kids," he said during an event in Delhi.
"I feel I have been working for 35 years and I have single mindedly been focused on my work. I feel this is not fair to people who are close to me. It is not fair to me also in many ways. I plan to take this time off to experience life in a different way." However, Aamir said that he will continue to be the producer for the project, saying that he really believes in the film and its story. "I will be approaching other actors now to see which of them would like to do a role which I was hoping to do. I am in a stage in life where I would like to enjoy my relationships," he added. It is noted that "Laal Singh Chaddha" tanked badly at the box office amid the boycott campaign against Aamir, but became a hit when it was streamed on Netflix soon after. The original movie, "Campeones", directed by Javier Fesser, was inspired by Aderes team in Burjassot (Valencia), a team created with people with intellectual disabilities that won twelve Spanish championships between 1999 and 2014.
