30 Dec – "Avatar: The Way of Water" has now crossed its 1 billion mark at the box office. The James Cameron movie achieved the number in just 14 days, exceeding the expectations of many people, and becoming the sixth film to do so in under a month. It is also the first to hit the number in its first two weeks of release since "Spider-Man: No Way Home" in December 2021.
The film earned another USD23.8 million in North America and USD 50.8 million overseas on Tuesday, 27 December, to end the day with a haul of USD 1.029 billion. It is noted that the film is also the third film to reach the billion mark this year, aside from "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Jurassic World Dominion", though the former needed 31 days to do so and the latter more than four months.
