25 Aug – Aziz M. Osman is not one to question film critics and reviewers when it comes to his movies, which he hopes other producers will do the same as well. The director and producer, who have decades of experience in the field, stated that being criticised is part and parcel of making movies, upon being asked about other producers who can't except criticisms. "No matter the criticism, we have to just accept it. We can't accuse critics of hurting a movie. I don't think this is a problem as this is about people's taste [in films]," he said.
Stressing that one should never make a movie if one can't stand the backlash, Aziz said that each and every movie that is released will definitely be evaluated. He used the example of his own movie, "XX Ray III", which was released back in 2019. "I planned to make the movie with a budget of 3 million, a million of which FINAS gave and the rest by an investor. But the investor later withdrew from the project, and I have already used the million from FINAS, so in the end I had to finish the movie with what I have. That itself affected the movie when it was released," he said. However, Aziz said that he couldn't complain and just had to bear the burden when it didn't look good on the big screen. "Just like when you serve food, you can't make excuses about lacking salt or anything if people say your food doesn't taste good. Like, "XX Ray III", if it was up to me, I would have wanted for it to be shown for one day and threw it out myself," he said.
